When to see a doctor
Seek care if you notice any of the following
- You vomit blood or black, tarry stools, which can be a sign of internal bleeding.
- You have severe abdominal pain that does not go away with medication, and you feel like you cannot move or breathe.
- You are unable to keep down fluids or medications for more than 2 days, leading to dehydration.
- You have a fever above 38.5°C (101.3°F) that lasts for more than 2 days, and is accompanied by vomiting.
- You experience severe vomiting that lasts for more than 3 days, and you are unable to keep down food or water.
