Who is this for?
This is a combination medicine containing a steroid (dexamethasone) to reduce swelling and redness, and two antibiotics (neomycin and polymyxin B) to fight bacterial infections. It is commonly used as eye or ear drops/ointment to treat infections and inflammation at the same time.
Inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit (neomycin and polymyxin B) while simultaneously binding glucocorticoid receptors to suppress inflammatory gene transcription and reduce immune-mediated swelling and erythema.
Eye infections with swelling, red eye (apollo) with inflammation, ear infections, swollen or irritated eyes after injury or surgery

If you forget a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for the one you missed.
Important for antibiotics
Always complete the full course even if you feel better. Stopping early can cause the infection to return and become drug-resistant.
Do not use this medicine longer than your doctor prescribed, as using steroid eye drops for too long can damage your eyes and increase eye pressure, which can lead to glaucoma. Always buy from a reputable pharmacy and check the expiry date, especially with brands like Maxitrol and Dexatrol. Do not share your eye or ear drops with anyone else, as this can spread infection.
If you are using other eye drops, wait at least 5-10 minutes between each medicine so they don't wash each other out. Avoid using this with other aminoglycoside antibiotics (like gentamicin eye drops) as it may increase the risk of side effects. Let your doctor know about all other medicines you are currently using.

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Nigerian weather can be very hot, so avoid leaving it in your car or near a window. Keep the bottle or tube tightly closed after use. Keep out of reach of children. Discard eye drops 4 weeks after opening.
