Your doctor will decide the exact dose depending on your condition. A common starting dose for adults is 5 mg to 60 mg daily, usually taken once in the morning with food or immediately after eating to protect your stomach. Do not stop taking it suddenly — your doctor will gradually reduce the dose when it is time to stop.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember — but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as normal. Do not take a double dose to make up for it.
Never stop prednisolone suddenly on your own — stopping abruptly after using it for more than a few days can cause serious problems like extreme tiredness, body weakness, and dangerously low blood pressure. Only buy from reputable pharmacies — brands like Geopred 5, H-Pred, or Pitral from trusted sources — avoid roadside sellers. Do not share your prednisolone with others or use it to treat conditions your doctor has not prescribed it for.
NSAIDs like ibuprofen and diclofenac — taking them together increases the risk of stomach ulcers and bleeding. Diabetes medicines — prednisolone can raise your blood sugar, so your diabetes medication may need adjustment. Avoid alcohol while on prednisolone as it further increases stomach irritation and ulcer risk.
