Who is this for?

This is a combination antibiotic that contains cefuroxime axetil (which kills bacteria) and clavulanic acid (which stops bacteria from resisting the antibiotic). Together, they work more effectively against stubborn infections that one antibiotic alone might not handle.

Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins and preventing peptidoglycan cross-linking; clavulanic acid irreversibly inhibits bacterial beta-lactamases, protecting cefuroxime from enzymatic degradation and extending its spectrum against beta-lactamase-producing organisms.

Is Cefuroxime safe to take with another drug?

Adults usually take one 625 mg tablet twice a day (morning and night) for 5 to 10 days depending on the infection. Take it with food to help your body absorb it better and reduce stomach upset. Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water — do not crush or chew it.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for it.

Avoid taking with blood thinners like warfarin as it can increase your risk of bleeding. Antacids and ulcer drugs may reduce how well the drug works — take them at least 2 hours apart. Avoid alcohol while on this medication as it can worsen stomach side effects and reduce the drug's effectiveness.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat — Nigerian weather can be very hot, so avoid leaving it in your car or near windows. Keep the suspension in the fridge after mixing and use within 14 days. Always keep out of reach of children.
