Moxifloxacin is a strong antibiotic that works by killing bacteria and stopping them from multiplying in your body. It belongs to a group called fluoroquinolones and is used for serious infections that other antibiotics may not handle well.

For adults, the usual dose is one 400 mg tablet once a day. You can take it with or without food — it doesn't matter. Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water. Your doctor will tell you how many days to take it, usually 5 to 14 days depending on the infection. For eye drops, the usual dose is one drop in the affected eye 3 times a day. Complete the full course even if you feel better.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Do not take two tablets at once to make up for the missed dose.

Avoid alcohol while on this drug as it increases dizziness and may affect your liver. Be careful if you are also taking heart rhythm drugs like amiodarone, as the combination can cause dangerous heartbeat changes.

Moxifloxacin is NOT safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding — it can harm the baby's developing joints and bones. Do not use it if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding unless your doctor says there is absolutely no other option.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat — Nigerian weather can be very hot, so avoid leaving it on windowsills, in your car, or near the kitchen stove. Keep the eye drops tightly closed after use and discard 4 weeks after opening. Always keep all forms away from children.
