Adults usually take one 500 mg capsule every 6 hours (4 times a day) or every 12 hours depending on the infection. You can take it with or without food, but taking it with food can reduce stomach upset. Drink plenty of water and complete the full course your doctor or pharmacist prescribed — usually 7 to 14 days. Common brands in Nigeria include Monacef 500, Cephaflash Capsules, and Axcel Cephalexin-500.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for it.
