This is a combination antibiotic that pairs amoxicillin (which kills bacteria) with clavulanic acid (which stops bacteria from defending themselves against the amoxicillin). Together, they work as a stronger team to fight infections that regular amoxicillin alone cannot handle.
Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins and preventing peptidoglycan cross-linking; clavulanic acid irreversibly inhibits bacterial beta-lactamases, preventing enzymatic degradation of amoxicillin and restoring its efficacy against resistant organisms.

For adults, the usual dose is one 625 mg tablet twice or three times daily, or one 1000 mg (1G) tablet twice daily depending on how serious the infection is. Complete the full course your pharmacist or doctor prescribed, even if you feel better after a few days.
