When to see a doctor

Seek care if you notice any of the following

  • If you have genital warts that bleed heavily when touched or during sex, go to your nearest clinic or hospital immediately.
  • If you notice that your genital warts are growing rapidly or changing in size, shape, or color, go to your nearest clinic or hospital soon.
  • If you experience severe pain or discomfort in your genital area, go to your nearest clinic or hospital immediately.
  • If you have genital warts and you have a weakened immune system due to HIV/AIDS, cancer, or taking immunosuppressive medications, go to your nearest clinic or hospital soon.
  • If you have genital warts and you are pregnant or breastfeeding, go to your nearest clinic or hospital soon.
