Tamsulosin is a medicine that relaxes the muscles around the prostate gland and the opening of the bladder, making it easier for urine to flow out. It belongs to a group of drugs called alpha-blockers that work by loosening tight muscles in the urinary pathway.

Take one capsule or tablet (0.4 mg) once daily, about 30 minutes after the same meal each day — many people take it after breakfast or dinner. Swallow the capsule whole with a full glass of water; do not crush, chew, or open it. Taking it after food helps the body absorb it properly.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember after your next meal. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as normal. Do not take two capsules at once to make up for it.
Be careful when standing up from a sitting or lying position, especially in hot weather, as this drug can make you dizzy or faint. Only buy from reputable pharmacies — avoid roadside sellers or unregistered vendors, as fake versions of this drug are common. Do not share this medicine with anyone else, even if they have similar urinary problems — they need to see a doctor first.
Avoid taking tamsulosin with other blood pressure-lowering drugs (like amlodipine or lisinopril) without your doctor's knowledge, as it can cause your blood pressure to drop too low. Do not combine with other prostate medicines like prazosin or doxazosin unless your doctor says so. Limit alcohol intake as it can increase dizziness and the risk of fainting.
