When to see a doctor

Seek care if you notice any of the following

  • If you have severe pain in your lower back or pelvis that does not go away with pain medication, go to your nearest clinic or hospital immediately.
  • If you have difficulty starting or stopping urination, or if you feel like your bladder is not emptying completely after you finish urinating, go to your nearest clinic or hospital soon.
  • If you have blood in your urine or semen, go to your nearest clinic or hospital immediately.
  • If you have a fever over 38°C (100.4°F) or chills, go to your nearest clinic or hospital soon.
  • If you have sudden weakness or numbness in your legs, or if you have trouble walking, go to your nearest clinic or hospital immediately.
