Sparfloxacin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by stopping them from multiplying. It belongs to the fluoroquinolone family and works against a wide range of bacteria that cause infections in the body.

Adults usually take a loading dose of 400mg (two 200mg tablets) on the first day, then 200mg (one tablet) once daily for the remaining days. The full course is usually 7 to 10 days depending on your infection. You can take it with or without food, but drink plenty of water. Do not skip days — complete the full course even if you feel better.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Do not take two tablets at once to make up for it.

Avoid taking sparfloxacin with antacids, iron supplements, or calcium tablets — these reduce how well the antibiotic works. Take them at least 4 hours apart. Avoid alcohol as it increases the risk of dizziness and stomach problems. Be careful if you are taking heart medications like amiodarone, as the combination can cause dangerous heart rhythm problems.
