Usually you start with 1.25 mg or 2.5 mg once daily, and your doctor may gradually increase it up to 10 mg per day depending on your condition. Take it at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet or capsule whole with water — do not crush or chew it. Your doctor will decide the right dose for you, so follow their instructions carefully.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the one you missed.

Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly because your blood pressure feels normal — high blood pressure often has no symptoms, so keep taking it as prescribed. Avoid taking potassium supplements or potassium-rich salt substitutes while on Ramipril as it can cause dangerously high potassium levels. NSAIDs like ibuprofen (commonly sold in Nigeria) can reduce how well Ramipril works and may harm your kidneys if used together regularly. Alcohol can increase the blood pressure-lowering effect and make you feel very dizzy or faint — limit your intake.
