Lisinopril is a blood pressure-lowering drug that works by relaxing your blood vessels so blood can flow more easily, reducing the strain on your heart.
Inhibits angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), preventing the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, thereby reducing vasoconstriction and aldosterone-mediated sodium retention. This leads to decreased blood pressure, reduced cardiac workload, and improved renal perfusion.

Take one tablet once a day, at the same time each day. You can take it with or without food. Your doctor will usually start you on a low dose (like 5 mg) and increase it gradually. Common Nigerian brands include Kaypril, Bazreal, Dostril, and Afrab Lisinopril — follow the dose your doctor prescribed for you.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Never take two tablets at once to make up for the one you missed.
Do not buy from roadside vendors or unregistered pharmacies — only purchase from licensed pharmacies to ensure you get genuine products. Do not stop taking this drug suddenly because your blood pressure feels normal; high blood pressure often has no symptoms but can cause stroke if untreated. If you develop a persistent dry cough, tell your doctor — they may switch you to another drug rather than you stopping on your own.
Avoid taking with potassium supplements or salt substitutes containing potassium as it can make potassium levels dangerously high. Be careful combining with painkillers like ibuprofen or diclofenac as they can reduce the effectiveness and harm your kidneys. Alcohol can increase the blood pressure-lowering effect and make you feel dizzy or faint.
