Perindopril arginine is a blood pressure-lowering medicine (ACE inhibitor) that works by relaxing your blood vessels so blood can flow more easily, reducing the workload on your heart.
Inhibits angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), preventing conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II and reducing systemic vasoconstriction, aldosterone secretion, and sodium retention. This results in vasodilation, decreased peripheral vascular resistance, and reduced blood pressure.

Take one tablet once a day in the morning, before food. The usual starting dose is 5 mg (one Coversyl 5 mg tablet), and your doctor may increase it to 10 mg daily depending on how your body responds. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
If you miss a dose, skip it and take your next dose at the usual time the following morning. Do not take two tablets at once to make up for the missed one.
Only buy Coversyl or perindopril from a licensed pharmacy — do not buy from roadside vendors or open markets, as fake versions are common. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly because your blood pressure feels fine — high blood pressure is a silent killer and needs ongoing treatment. Do not share your prescription with someone else who has high blood pressure, as doses must be individually determined by a doctor.
Avoid using potassium supplements or salt substitutes that contain potassium while on this drug, as it can raise potassium to dangerous levels. NSAIDs like ibuprofen (common in Nigeria for body pain) can reduce the effectiveness of perindopril and harm your kidneys. Alcohol can increase the blood pressure-lowering effect and make you feel very dizzy or faint.
