Who is this for?

Hyoscine Butylbromide is a drug that relaxes the muscles in your stomach, intestines, and other internal organs, helping to stop painful cramps and spasms.

Blocks muscarinic M3 receptors on smooth muscle cells in the gastrointestinal and urinary tract, inhibiting acetylcholine-mediated contraction and relieving visceral spasms and associated pain.

Is Hyoscine safe to take with another drug?

Adults should take 1 to 2 tablets (10–20 mg) three to four times a day. You can take it with or without food — just swallow with water. Do not take more than 6 tablets (60 mg) in a day. Common brands in Nigeria include Colipan Tablet, Unipan Tablets, Shreecopan, and MeCure's Hyoscine Butylbromide Tablet.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it's almost time for your next dose, just skip the missed one and continue as normal. Don't double up to make up for it.

Avoid taking it with other drugs that cause drowsiness or dry mouth, like antihistamines (e.g., chlorpheniramine or promethazine). If you take metoclopramide (Plasil) for nausea, know that hyoscine may reduce its effect. Alcohol can increase dizziness, so avoid drinking while using this drug.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat — Nigerian weather can be very hot, so avoid leaving it in your car or near a window. Keep the medicine tightly sealed and far from the reach of children.
