Cefdinir is an antibiotic that works by killing bacteria that cause infections in your body. It belongs to the cephalosporin family of antibiotics and stops bacteria from building their protective walls, which destroys them.
Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins and preventing cross-linking of peptidoglycan strands, resulting in bacterial cell wall degradation and death.

Adults usually take one 300 mg capsule twice a day or two 300 mg capsules once a day for 5 to 10 days, depending on the infection. You can take it with or without food. Swallow the capsule whole with a full glass of water and make sure you complete the full course your doctor or pharmacist prescribed.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Never take a double dose to make up for the one you missed.

Iron supplements and multivitamins containing iron can reduce how well cefdinir works — take them at least 2 hours apart. Antacids (like aluminium or magnesium-based ones used for ulcer or heartburn) also reduce absorption — space them out by at least 2 hours. Probenecid (used for gout) can increase cefdinir levels in your blood, so tell your doctor if you take it.
