When to see a doctor

Seek care if you notice any of the following

  • If you have a fever that lasts for more than 3 days or reaches 39°C (102.2°F) or higher.
  • If you experience severe chest pain or difficulty breathing, even when sitting still.
  • If you cough up blood or yellow or green mucus that smells bad.
  • If you have a severe headache, confusion, or difficulty speaking.
  • If you have a cough that lasts for more than 2 weeks or is accompanied by a high fever, especially in children under 5 years old.
