This is a combination antibiotic that contains two medicines — Ampicillin and Cloxacillin — which work together to kill a wide range of bacteria causing infections in your body. Ampicillin handles many common bacteria, while Cloxacillin tackles stubborn bacteria that have become resistant to regular penicillin.

For adults, the usual dose is 1 capsule (500mg) taken every 6 hours — that means 4 times a day. Take it on an empty stomach, ideally 1 hour before food or 2 hours after eating, with a full glass of water. Complete the entire course your doctor or pharmacist prescribed, even if you feel better after a few days.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for it.
Important for antibiotics
Always complete the full course even if you feel better. Stopping early can cause the infection to return and become drug-resistant.
Always complete the full course of antibiotics even if you feel better — stopping early helps bacteria become resistant, which is a growing problem in Nigeria. Buy only from reputable pharmacies and check the NAFDAC number on the pack — avoid roadside sellers or open market drugs. Do not share your Ampiclox with family or friends, as what works for you may not be right for them and can be dangerous.
Methotrexate (used for some cancers and joint problems) — Ampiclox can increase its side effects. Blood thinners like warfarin — this drug may increase the risk of bleeding, so your doctor may need to adjust your dose. Oral contraceptives (birth control pills) — Ampiclox may reduce their effectiveness, so use additional protection during treatment.

Is it safe to take Ampicillin with your other drugs?
Consult your doctor before taking this drug if you are pregnant or breastfeeding — it may be used when the benefit outweighs the risk, but only a doctor should make that decision.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat — Nigerian weather can be very hot, so avoid leaving it in your car or near a window. Keep the bottle tightly closed. Once you mix the suspension with water, store it in a refrigerator and use it within 7–14 days. Always keep out of reach of children.
