This is a combination of two water pills (diuretics) — amiloride and hydrochlorothiazide — that work together to help your body get rid of excess water and salt through urine, while amiloride helps prevent your body from losing too much potassium.

The usual adult dose is 1 to 2 tablets taken once daily, preferably in the morning with food. Take it early in the day so the extra urination does not disturb your sleep at night. Swallow the tablet with a full glass of water. Your doctor will adjust your dose based on how your body responds.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember — but if it is already late afternoon or evening, skip it and take your next dose the following morning. Do not take two tablets at once to make up for the missed dose.
Only buy from licensed pharmacies — brands like Kisiretic, Modutab, Vamaretic, or Zoretic are available in Nigeria, so avoid unregistered versions from roadside sellers. Do not stop taking this drug suddenly without your doctor's advice, even if you feel fine, as high blood pressure often has no symptoms. Visit your doctor regularly for blood tests to check your potassium levels and kidney function while on this medication.
Avoid taking potassium supplements or eating too many potassium-rich foods like bananas and oranges in large amounts, as this drug already helps your body retain potassium. Be careful with painkillers like ibuprofen and diclofenac (common in Nigeria) as they can reduce this drug's effectiveness and harm your kidneys. Avoid alcohol as it can make the dizziness and low blood pressure worse.
