This is a vaccine that helps your body build protection against pneumococcal bacteria, germs that can cause serious infections like pneumonia, meningitis, and ear infections. It works by training your immune system to recognize and fight these bacteria before they make you sick.
Activates adaptive immunity by conjugating pneumococcal polysaccharide antigens to protein carriers, enhancing T-cell-dependent B-cell responses and generating protective antibodies against multiple pneumococcal serotypes responsible for invasive disease.
Prevention of pneumonia (chest infection), meningitis (brain infection), ear infections, blood infections caused by pneumococcal bacteria

If your child misses a scheduled vaccine dose, take them back to the clinic as soon as possible. There is no need to restart the series, just continue from where you stopped. Speak with the immunization nurse about when to give the remaining doses.
Only receive this vaccine at a registered hospital, clinic, or government immunization centre; never buy vaccines from roadside sellers or unregistered sources. Make sure you complete all the scheduled doses so your child gets full protection. Keep your child's immunization card safe and bring it to every clinic visit so the nurse can track which doses have been given.
If your child is taking medicines that weaken the immune system (like steroids or cancer drugs), the vaccine may not work as well, so tell the doctor. Paracetamol can be given to manage mild fever after vaccination without any problem. There are no major food interactions since this is a vaccine, not an oral medicine.

This vaccine must be stored in a refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze it, as freezing destroys the vaccine. Keep it away from direct sunlight and heat, which is very important in Nigerian weather. This is why you should only receive it at a proper health facility that has cold chain storage. Keep out of reach of children.
