Adults usually take one 20 mg capsule once a day, preferably with food or immediately after eating to protect your stomach. Swallow with a full glass of water. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taking it. Common Nigerian brands include Emzor Piroxicam, Felvin 20, and Fascam Capsules — they all contain the same drug.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as normal. Never take two capsules at once to make up for a missed dose.
Do not use piroxicam for more than a few days without a doctor's supervision — long-term use can damage your stomach and kidneys. Buy only from reputable pharmacies and avoid unregistered brands from roadside sellers or open markets. Do not combine it with other painkillers on your own, even if the pain is severe — see a doctor instead.
Avoid taking piroxicam with other painkillers like ibuprofen or diclofenac as this greatly increases the risk of stomach bleeding. If you are on blood pressure drugs, piroxicam can reduce their effectiveness — tell your doctor. Avoid drinking alcohol while using this drug as it increases stomach damage.
