How to take this drug
For most infections, adults take 400mg (one 400mg tablet) three times a day for 7 days. Swallow with a full glass of water. You can take it with or after food to reduce stomach upset. For amoeba infections, your doctor may prescribe 800mg (two 400mg tablets) three times daily for 5-10 days. Always complete the full course even if you feel better.
What if I Miss a Dose?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Do not take two doses at once to make up for it.

Blood thinners like warfarin — metronidazole can increase bleeding risk, so inform your doctor. Lithium — if you take lithium for mental health, metronidazole can increase its levels dangerously.
