For tablets: Chew 1 to 2 tablets when you feel heartburn or stomach discomfort, usually between meals and at bedtime. For the suspension (liquid): Take 1 to 2 teaspoonfuls (5-10 ml) three to four times daily between meals and at bedtime. Shake the liquid well before use. You can take it with water if needed.
Since this medicine is usually taken only when you feel symptoms (not on a fixed schedule), there is no real missed dose. Simply take it the next time you have heartburn or stomach discomfort. Do not double up.
Buy only from registered pharmacies — avoid buying antacids from roadside sellers or open markets as they may be expired or fake. Do not use this antacid continuously for more than 2 weeks without seeing a doctor — persistent stomach pain could be something more serious. If you are taking other medicines, space them at least 2 hours apart from this antacid so it does not block their effect.
This antacid can reduce how well other medicines work if taken at the same time — especially tetracycline antibiotics, iron supplements (like ferrous sulphate for blood tonic), and ciprofloxacin. Take those other medicines at least 2 hours before or after taking this antacid. It can also affect the absorption of some malaria and TB drugs, so tell your pharmacist about any other medicines you are taking.
