For vaginal yeast infection (toilet infection), a single 150 mg capsule is usually enough — just take one capsule with water, with or without food. For other fungal infections, your doctor may prescribe 200 mg on the first day, then 100–200 mg once daily for several days or weeks depending on the infection. Swallow the capsule whole with water. You can take it with or without food.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your normal schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the one you missed.
Buy only from reputable pharmacies — brands like Diflucan, Apricona, Cika Fluconazole, or Eden Fluconazole are commonly available in Nigeria, but avoid buying from roadside vendors or unregistered sellers. If you are treating a fungal infection that requires multiple days of treatment, complete the full course even if you feel better, otherwise the infection can come back. Do not share your fluconazole with someone else even if they have similar symptoms — the dose and duration differ for each person.
Avoid taking fluconazole with erythromycin or certain heart medications as it can cause dangerous heart rhythm problems. If you are on warfarin (blood thinner), fluconazole can increase your risk of bleeding — your doctor needs to monitor you closely. Drinking alcohol while on fluconazole can put extra stress on your liver, so it's best to avoid it.
