Antiretroviral (ARV) — HIV medication
Brand of Dolutegravir; Lamivudine; Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate
Last reviewed June 2026
Who is this for?
This is a combination tablet containing three antiretroviral (anti-HIV) medicines — Dolutegravir, Lamivudine, and Tenofovir — that work together to stop the HIV virus from multiplying in your body, helping your immune system stay strong.
Inhibits HIV replication through three complementary mechanisms: Dolutegravir blocks HIV integrase, preventing viral DNA integration into the host genome; Lamivudine and Tenofovir are nucleoside/nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors that suppress reverse transcription of viral RNA into DNA. Together, these agents reduce viral load and preserve CD4+ T-cell count.

Take one tablet once a day, at the same time every day. You can take it with or without food. Do not break or crush the tablet — swallow it whole with water. Consistency is very important, so try to never skip a day.
If you remember the same day, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Never take two tablets at once to make up for a missed dose.
Always buy from a licensed pharmacy — do not purchase ARV drugs from roadside vendors or unverified online sellers, as fake HIV drugs are dangerous and common. Never share your HIV medication with anyone else, even if they are also HIV-positive, because dosing and drug combinations differ. Take this medicine every single day without stopping — skipping doses can cause the virus to become resistant, making your treatment stop working.
Do not take this medicine with other drugs that already contain Lamivudine or Tenofovir (like some hepatitis B medicines), as you may accidentally double the dose. Avoid taking it at the same time as antacids, calcium, or iron supplements — take those at least 6 hours apart or 2 hours after your HIV tablet. Alcohol can put extra stress on your liver, so limit or avoid drinking while on this medication.
