This is a combination medicine containing diphenhydramine (an antihistamine that helps stop coughing and dries up runny nose) and sodium citrate (which helps loosen thick mucus in the chest so you can cough it out more easily). Together they work to calm coughs and clear chest congestion.

For adults, take 10-20 ml (2-4 teaspoons) of the syrup every 4-6 hours as needed. Do not take more than 4 doses in 24 hours. You can take it with or without food. Use the measuring cup that comes with the bottle — don't just guess with a household spoon.
Since this medicine is usually taken only when you have symptoms, there's no strict schedule. If you forget a dose, just take it when you remember. But if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one — never double up.
This medicine causes drowsiness — do not drive, operate machines, or do anything requiring alertness after taking it. Buy only from reputable pharmacies and check the expiry date — avoid buying cough syrups from roadside vendors or open markets as they may be fake or expired. If your child's cough lasts more than 5-7 days or gets worse, see a doctor instead of just increasing the dose.
Avoid drinking alcohol while using this medicine as it will make you very drowsy and dizzy. Do not combine with other cough or cold medicines containing antihistamines (like chlorpheniramine or promethazine) as this can cause dangerous over-sedation. If you are taking medicines for anxiety, depression, or sleep, talk to your doctor or pharmacist first.
