Celecoxib is a painkiller and anti-inflammatory drug that works by blocking a specific enzyme (COX-2) in your body that causes pain, swelling, and inflammation — while being gentler on your stomach than many other painkillers.

For general pain or arthritis, the usual adult dose is one 200 mg capsule once daily or one 100 mg capsule twice daily. For acute pain or menstrual pain, you may start with 400 mg on the first dose, then 200 mg as needed. You can take it with or without food, but taking it with food may reduce stomach upset. Swallow the capsule whole with water — do not open or chew it.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as normal. Do not take two capsules at once to make up for it.
Only buy from licensed pharmacies — do not purchase from roadside vendors or open markets, as fake drugs are common. Do not use celecoxib for long periods without your doctor's supervision, as prolonged use can affect your heart and stomach. Do not share your prescription with others, even if they have similar pain — what works for you may be dangerous for someone else.
Avoid taking celecoxib with other painkillers like ibuprofen or diclofenac as this increases the risk of stomach bleeding. If you are on blood-thinning drugs like warfarin or aspirin, celecoxib can increase your bleeding risk — inform your doctor.
