Cefixime is an antibiotic that works by killing bacteria responsible for infections in your body — it stops the bacteria from building their protective walls, which causes them to die off.

Adults usually take one 400mg tablet once daily or one 200mg tablet twice daily. You can take it with or without food, but taking it with food may reduce stomach upset. Swallow the tablet with a full glass of water and make sure you complete the full course your doctor prescribed, even if you feel better.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Do not take two doses at once to make up for it.
Important for antibiotics
Always complete the full course even if you feel better. Stopping early can cause the infection to return and become drug-resistant.
Always complete the full course of cefixime even if you feel fine after a few days — stopping early can cause the infection to come back stronger and harder to treat. Buy only from reputable pharmacies and look for trusted brands like Brodcef, Cefexitab, or Aquixim — avoid buying antibiotics from roadside sellers or open markets. Do not share your antibiotics with anyone else, even if they have similar symptoms.
Blood thinners like warfarin — cefixime can increase the risk of bleeding if taken together. Antacids or medicines containing magnesium or aluminium can reduce how well cefixime works, so take them at least 2 hours apart. Avoid drinking alcohol while on this drug as it can worsen stomach side effects.
