Carboxymethylcellulose sodium is an artificial tear drop that works by mimicking the natural moisture in your eyes, forming a protective film that keeps your eyes wet and comfortable when they are dry or irritated.
Forms a protective hydrophilic film on the ocular surface by binding to mucins and epithelial cells, increasing tear viscosity and prolonging tear film stability to lubricate the cornea and conjunctiva. This reduces friction-induced irritation and maintains corneal hydration, particularly in conditions of reduced tear production or increased evaporation from environmental exposure.

Since this medicine is used as needed when your eyes feel dry, there is no strict dosing schedule. Simply apply the drops whenever your eyes feel uncomfortable, with no need to worry about a missed dose.
Buy only from reputable pharmacies and avoid eye drops from roadside vendors or open markets as they may be expired or contaminated. Do not share your eye drops with another person to avoid spreading eye infections. If your dry eye symptoms do not improve after a few days of use or get worse, visit a doctor or pharmacist.
If you are using other eye drops or eye ointments, wait at least 5 to 10 minutes between each medication so they don't wash each other out. If you use both eye drops and an eye ointment, always apply the drops first and the ointment last. No significant interactions with food or alcohol.
