Aminophylline is a medicine that relaxes and opens up the airways in your lungs, making it easier to breathe. It works by relaxing the muscles around your air passages and reducing swelling inside them.

Adults usually take 100–300 mg by mouth 3 to 4 times a day, or as your doctor prescribes. Take it with food or a glass of water to reduce stomach upset. Do not crush or chew the tablets — swallow them whole. Your doctor may adjust your dose based on how your body responds, so follow their instructions carefully.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Never take two doses at once to make up for a missed dose — this drug can be dangerous in high amounts.
Aminophylline has a very narrow safe dose range — a small increase can cause serious side effects, so never take more than your doctor prescribed. Do not buy aminophylline from roadside vendors or unregistered pharmacies, as fake or expired products are common and can be very dangerous. If you feel your heart racing, have tremors, or start vomiting after taking it, stop and see a doctor immediately.
Avoid drinking too much coffee, tea, kola nut, or energy drinks — they contain caffeine which can increase side effects like fast heartbeat and restlessness. Erythromycin and ciprofloxacin (common antibiotics in Nigeria) can increase aminophylline levels in your blood to dangerous amounts, so tell your doctor if you are taking them. Smoking tobacco or marijuana can reduce how well aminophylline works, so inform your doctor if you smoke.
