When to see a doctor

Seek care if you notice any of the following

  • You have severe vomiting that lasts for more than 2 days and you are unable to keep down any fluids.
  • You are experiencing severe diarrhea that lasts for more than 3 days and you are losing a lot of fluids.
  • Your urine is dark yellow or you are not urinating at all, which can be a sign that your body is not getting enough fluids.
  • You are feeling dizzy or lightheaded when you stand up, which can be a sign that your blood pressure is dropping due to dehydration.
  • You have a fever above 38°C (100.4°F) and are experiencing severe dehydration symptoms, such as excessive thirst, dark urine, or decreased urine output.
