Xylometazoline is a nasal decongestant that works by shrinking the swollen blood vessels inside your nose, making it easier for you to breathe when your nose is blocked.

For adults, use the 0.1% strength nasal spray or drops. Put 2-3 drops or 1 spray into each nostril, 2-3 times a day. Do not use it for more than 5-7 days in a row, as your nose can become dependent on it and the blockage may come back worse.
Since you use this drug only when your nose is blocked, there is no strict schedule. If you forget a dose, just use it when you remember. Do not double the drops to make up for a missed one.
Do not use this drug for more than 7 days — many Nigerians get used to nasal drops and keep using them for weeks or months, which actually makes the blocked nose worse. Buy trusted brands like Drutivin Nasal Drop or Xylo-Acino from a registered pharmacy, not from roadside sellers, because fake nasal drops can cause serious harm. Do not share your nasal spray or dropper bottle with anyone else to avoid spreading infections.
Do not use with MAO inhibitor drugs (some drugs used for depression) as this can cause a dangerous rise in blood pressure. Be careful if you are taking blood pressure medication, as xylometazoline can affect your blood pressure. Avoid using other nasal decongestant sprays or drops at the same time.

Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat. Nigerian weather can be hot, so keep it in a cool, dry place — not inside a car or near a window. Keep the bottle tightly closed and out of children's reach. Throw it away 4 weeks after opening.
