How to take this drug

For most multivitamin tablets like Albevite, take 1 tablet once daily, preferably with food so your body absorbs it better. Syrups like Archivite or De-Shalom are usually taken 1-2 teaspoonfuls (5-10ml) once or twice daily. Always follow the instructions on the pack or what your pharmacist tells you.

What if I Miss a Dose?

If you miss a dose, just take it when you remember. If it's almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue as normal. No need to double up — vitamins are not like antibiotics where missing a dose is critical.

Common Side Effects

Mild stomach upset or nausea (especially when taken on an empty stomach)
change in urine colour to bright yellow (this is normal and harmless — it's from Vitamin B2)
mild constipation or loose stool
slight metallic taste in the mouth

Serious Side Effects

Allergic reactions like swelling of the face
lips
or difficulty breathing — go to the hospital immediately. If you take too many at once (overdose)
especially ones containing iron or Vitamin A
it can cause serious liver damage — seek medical help right away.

Drug Interactions

If you are taking antibiotics like tetracycline or ciprofloxacin, take your vitamins at least 2 hours apart because minerals in multivitamins can reduce how well the antibiotics work. Vitamins containing iron can reduce the effectiveness of some thyroid medications. If you are on blood thinners like warfarin, Vitamin K in some multivitamins can interfere with the drug.

Multivitamins are generally safe and often recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but make sure you use a prenatal formula and consult your doctor — avoid products with high-dose Vitamin A as too much can harm the baby.

people with conditions like haemochromatosis (a condition where the body stores too much iron) should avoid iron-containing vitamins
and anyone with kidney problems should be careful with vitamins containing potassium or certain minerals — talk to your pharmacist or doctor first.

How to Store

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat — Nigerian weather can be very hot, so avoid leaving vitamins on windowsills, in cars, or near stoves. Keep syrups and drops tightly closed after use. Always keep out of reach of children, as children may mistake them for sweets.
