Terbinafine is an antifungal medicine that works by killing the fungi that cause skin and nail infections, stopping them from growing and spreading.

For tablets, the usual adult dose is one 250 mg tablet once daily. You can take it with or without food. For skin infections like ringworm, treatment usually lasts 2 to 4 weeks. For nail infections, treatment may last 6 weeks (fingernails) to 12 weeks (toenails). For the cream, apply a thin layer to the affected area once or twice daily for 1 to 2 weeks.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for it.
Complete the full course of treatment even if the infection looks better — stopping early can cause the fungal infection to return. Buy only from licensed pharmacies; avoid roadside or unregistered sellers as fake antifungals are common. If you notice your eyes turning yellow or your urine becoming unusually dark, stop the medicine and see a doctor immediately.
Terbinafine can interact with caffeine (coffee, energy drinks), making you feel more jittery or restless. It may also interact with certain antidepressants and blood-thinning medicines like warfarin. Avoid drinking alcohol while on terbinafine tablets as it may increase the risk of liver problems.
