Zedex Cold 325 mg Capsule

Who is this for?

This is a combination medicine containing three active ingredients — paracetamol (a painkiller and fever reducer), phenylephrine (which unblocks your stuffy nose), and dextromethorphan (which calms down coughing). Together, they relieve multiple cold and flu symptoms at once.

Inhibits COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes, reducing prostaglandin synthesis to decrease fever, pain, and headache; activates alpha-1 adrenergic receptors causing vasoconstriction of nasal blood vessels to relieve congestion; suppresses cough by inhibiting the cough centre in the medulla oblongata.

Is Paracetamol; safe to take with another drug?

For adults, take 1 capsule every 4 to 6 hours as needed, with or without food. Do not take more than 4 capsules in 24 hours. Swallow with a full glass of water. A common brand in Nigeria is Zedex Cold 325 mg Capsule.

Since this medicine is taken only when you have symptoms, there is no strict schedule. If you forget a dose, just take it when you remember. But do not take two doses at once or exceed 4 capsules in a day.

Do not take with alcohol as it increases the risk of liver damage from paracetamol and can make drowsiness much worse. Avoid taking alongside other paracetamol-containing medicines (like Boska or Procold) to prevent accidental overdose. Do not combine with MAO inhibitor medications or other cough suppressants without a doctor's advice.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat — Nigerian weather can be very hot, so avoid leaving it in your car or near a window. Keep away from moisture and always store out of the reach of children.
