Palonosetron is an anti-nausea injection that works by blocking a chemical called serotonin in your body, which is the main trigger for vomiting, especially after chemotherapy (cancer treatment drugs).
Binds selectively to 5-HT3 receptors on vagal afferent nerves and chemoreceptor trigger zone neurons, blocking serotonin-mediated activation of the vomiting centre and preventing nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy and postoperative settings.

This is not a tablet — it is given as an injection into your vein (IV) by a doctor or nurse in a hospital. For chemotherapy-related nausea, a single dose of 0.25 mg is given about 30 minutes before your chemotherapy session. For post-surgery nausea, 0.075 mg is given just before the surgery starts. You do not take this drug at home by yourself.
Since this drug is given by a doctor or nurse in a hospital setting before a specific procedure, missing a dose on your own is unlikely. If for any reason it was not given before your treatment, inform your doctor immediately.
