Omeprazole is a drug that reduces the amount of acid your stomach produces by blocking the tiny pumps in your stomach lining that release acid, giving your stomach and gut time to heal.

Take one 20 mg capsule once daily, preferably in the morning before breakfast — swallow it whole with water, do not crush or chew. For severe ulcers, your doctor may increase it to 40 mg daily. A typical course lasts 2 to 8 weeks depending on your condition. Take it at the same time every day for best results.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember — but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as normal. Do not take two capsules at once to make up for it.
