This is a combination tablet containing two diabetes medicines — Metformin and Saxagliptin — that work together to lower blood sugar. Metformin reduces the amount of sugar your liver releases and helps your body use insulin better, while Saxagliptin helps your body produce more insulin after meals and reduces excess sugar production.
Inhibits hepatic glucose production and increases peripheral insulin sensitivity by activating AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), while saxagliptin inhibits dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) to increase incretin levels, thereby enhancing glucose-dependent insulin secretion and reducing glucagon release.

Take one tablet once daily with your evening meal. Swallow the tablet whole — do not crush, chew, or break it. Your doctor will decide whether you need the 2.5 mg/1000 mg or the 5 mg/1000 mg strength based on your current blood sugar control. Always take it at the same time each day for best results.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember with food. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Do not take two tablets at once to make up for the missed dose.
