Measles and Rubella vaccine (MR vaccine) is a live vaccine that contains weakened forms of the measles and rubella viruses, which trains your body's immune system to fight these diseases without actually making you sick.
Activates humoral and cell-mediated immune responses by introducing attenuated measles and rubella viruses that replicate in host tissues, stimulating production of neutralizing antibodies and T-cell immunity against viral antigens without causing clinical disease.
Prevention of measles (the rash illness that causes high fever, cough, and red spots all over the body), prevention of rubella (German measles, which can cause serious birth defects if a pregnant woman catches it)

If you or your child missed a scheduled dose, go to the nearest health centre as soon as possible to get the vaccine. There is no need to restart the schedule, just pick up from where you stopped. The vaccine can still protect you even if given late.
Only receive this vaccine at a government health facility, approved hospital, or during official immunization campaigns, never from roadside sellers or unregistered pharmacies. Make sure the health worker prepares the vaccine from a properly stored vial (like MRBEV brand) and uses a new, sterile needle. Keep your immunization card safe and bring it to every clinic visit so health workers can track your child's vaccination schedule.
If you or your child is taking medicines that weaken the immune system (such as steroids or cancer drugs), tell the health worker before getting this vaccine. If you recently received a blood transfusion or immunoglobulin injection, you may need to wait several weeks before getting this vaccine. Other routine childhood vaccines can usually be given at the same time.

This vaccine should NOT be given to pregnant women, and women should avoid getting pregnant for at least one month after receiving the vaccine. Talk to your doctor if you are breastfeeding.
This vaccine must be stored in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C and must never be frozen or exposed to heat or direct sunlight. Nigerian weather is very hot, so this vaccine should only be handled and stored by trained health workers. Never buy or keep this vaccine at home without proper cold storage. Keep out of reach of children.
