Adults usually take one 500 mg capsule every 6 to 8 hours (3 to 4 times daily). Take it on an empty stomach — at least 1 hour before food or 2 hours after eating, because food reduces how well it works. Swallow the capsule whole with a full glass of water. Your doctor may adjust the dose depending on how serious your infection is.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Do not take two doses at once to make up for it.

Do not use lincomycin together with erythromycin or chloramphenicol as they can cancel each other out and make treatment fail. Be careful if you are taking kaolin-based diarrhoea medicines (like kaolin mixture) as they reduce how well lincomycin works — take them at least 2 hours apart. Avoid alcohol while on this medication as it may worsen side effects.
