Adults should take 15-30 ml (about 1-2 tablespoons) of the suspension after each loose stool or as directed on the product label. Shake the bottle well before use. You can take it with or without food, but drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration from the diarrhoea.
Light Kaolin is taken as needed when you have loose stools, not on a fixed schedule. If your symptoms have improved, there is no need to take another dose. Just take the next dose if diarrhoea returns.
Diarrhoea can cause dangerous dehydration quickly in Nigeria's hot climate — always drink ORS (oral rehydration salts) or plenty of fluids alongside this medicine. Do not use Light Kaolin for more than 2 days without seeing a doctor, as the diarrhoea may need a different treatment. Buy only from reputable pharmacies and check the expiry date — avoid buying opened or unlabeled mixtures from roadside sellers.
Light Kaolin can reduce the absorption of other medicines you take by mouth, so take other medications at least 2 hours before or after taking kaolin. This includes antibiotics, antimalarials, and even paracetamol — spacing them out is important so your other drugs still work properly.
