Who is this for?
This is an expectorant cough syrup (commonly known as Novalyn Cough Linctus in Nigeria) that works by loosening thick phlegm in your chest and throat, making it easier to cough it out, while also soothing irritation in your airways.
Stimulates bronchial mucus secretion and reduces mucus viscosity through irritant action on gastric and bronchial mucosa, while glycerol and honey provide demulcent coating of respiratory tract mucosa; citric acid and essential oils enhance mucolytic activity and soothe airway irritation to facilitate productive cough and clearance of bronchial secretions.

Adults should take 5-10 ml (one to two teaspoons) three to four times a day. You can take it with or without food. Use the measuring cup or spoon that comes with the bottle — don't just guess. Shake the bottle well before each use.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it's almost time for your next dose, just skip the one you missed and continue as normal. Don't double up to make up for it.
Buy only from reputable pharmacies — check the NAFDAC number on the bottle and make sure it has not expired. If your cough does not improve after 5-7 days or gets worse with fever, chest pain, or blood in phlegm, see a doctor immediately as it may be something more serious. Do not use this to treat dry cough — it is meant for cough that produces phlegm.
Avoid taking this with other cough medicines at the same time, especially cough suppressants (the type that stops you from coughing) as they work in opposite ways. Avoid alcohol while using this syrup as it can increase drowsiness and stomach upset. If you are taking any heart medication or blood pressure drugs, tell your doctor or pharmacist before using this.

Is it safe to take Ipecacuanha with your other drugs?
Do not use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding unless your doctor specifically tells you it is safe — ipecacuanha can cause strong stomach contractions.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat — Nigerian weather can be very hot, so avoid leaving it in your car or near windows. Keep the bottle tightly closed and always store it out of children's reach.
