How it works

How to take this drug

This is an injection given under the skin (not into a vein), usually once or twice daily with your main meal(s). Your doctor will decide the exact dose based on your blood sugar readings. Use the Ryzodeg FlexTouch pen as shown by your doctor or pharmacist — inject into your belly, upper arm, or thigh, and rotate the injection spot each time.

What if I Miss a Dose?

If you miss your dose at a meal, take it with your next main meal that day, then go back to your normal schedule. Never take a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you are unsure, check your blood sugar and call your doctor.

What to watch out for

Always buy Ryzodeg from a licensed pharmacy — never buy insulin from roadside sellers or unregistered shops, as it may have been stored in heat and lost its effectiveness. Learn to recognize the signs of low blood sugar (shaking, sweating, confusion) and always carry sugar, sweets, or a sugary drink with you. Do not share your insulin pen with anyone, even if you change the needle — this can spread infections.

Some diabetes tablets like glimepiride or metformin may increase the effect of insulin, so your doctor needs to adjust doses carefully.

If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using Ryzodeg — your insulin needs may change during pregnancy and your doctor will need to monitor and adjust your dose.

Who Should NOT Take This

People who are allergic to insulin degludec
insulin aspart
or any ingredient in Ryzodeg. Do not use this insulin when your blood sugar is already too low (hypoglycemia). Do not inject it into a vein or use it in an insulin pump.

How to Store

Before first use, store in a refrigerator (2°C to 8°C) — not in the freezer. Once in use, keep the pen at room temperature (below 30°C) for up to 21 days. Do not expose to direct sunlight or extreme heat, which is common in Nigeria. Keep the cap on when not in use and always keep away from children.
