Who is this for?

Hydrocortisone acetate is a mild steroid (corticosteroid) cream or ointment that works by reducing swelling, redness, and itching on the skin.

Binds to glucocorticoid receptors in the cytoplasm, translocating to the nucleus to suppress pro-inflammatory gene expression and reduce production of inflammatory mediators (cytokines, chemokines, and adhesion molecules), thereby decreasing local inflammation, erythema, and pruritus.

Is Hydrocortisone safe to take with another drug?

For the cream or ointment, apply a thin layer to the affected area 1 to 3 times daily and rub in gently. Do not cover the area with a bandage unless your doctor tells you to. Use only the amount needed and stop once the condition clears up — do not use for more than 7 days without seeing a doctor.

If you forget to apply it, use it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next application, just skip the missed one and continue as normal. Do not apply double the amount to make up for it.

Avoid using other steroid creams or medicated skin products on the same area at the same time unless your doctor says so. Be cautious using it alongside skin-lightening or toning creams that already contain steroids, as this can cause serious skin damage.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat — Nigerian weather can be very hot, so avoid leaving it in a car or near a window. Keep the tube tightly closed and out of the reach of children.
