This is a combination inhaler that contains two medicines — fluticasone (which reduces swelling and inflammation in your airways) and salmeterol (which relaxes the muscles around your airways to help you breathe easier). Together, they work to keep your airways open and calm.
Activates beta-2 adrenergic receptors to promote bronchial smooth muscle relaxation and airway dilation, while fluticasone propionate binds to glucocorticoid receptors in the cytoplasm to suppress inflammatory gene transcription, reducing airway inflammation and mucus production.

For adults, the usual dose is 2 puffs twice daily — one in the morning and one in the evening, about 12 hours apart. Your doctor will choose the right strength (125 mcg or 250 mcg fluticasone) based on how severe your asthma is. After each use, rinse your mouth with water and spit it out to prevent mouth infections. This inhaler is for daily prevention — it is not a rescue inhaler for sudden attacks.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for it.
Always buy your inhaler from a reputable pharmacy — do not buy from roadside sellers or open markets, as storage conditions matter a lot for inhalers. This is a preventer inhaler, not a rescue inhaler — always carry your reliever inhaler (e.g. Ventolin) separately for emergencies. Do not stop using it suddenly even if you feel better; let your doctor guide you on when and how to reduce the dose.
Avoid using with ketoconazole or itraconazole (common antifungal drugs in Nigeria) as they can increase side effects of fluticasone. Be careful with certain heart or blood pressure medicines like beta-blockers (e.g. propranolol) as they can reduce the effect of salmeterol. Tell your doctor if you are taking any HIV medicines like ritonavir.
