How to take this drug

For adults, take one tablespoonful (15ml) two to three times daily, or as directed on the pack. It is best taken after meals to reduce stomach upset. You can find it sold as Haepler Blood Tonic in most pharmacies across Nigeria.

What if I Miss a Dose?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, just skip the missed one and continue as normal. Do not take a double dose to make up for it.

What to watch out for

Buy only from reputable pharmacies — avoid blood tonics sold by roadside vendors as they may be expired or fake. Do not take more than the recommended dose thinking it will build your blood faster, as too much iron can be harmful. Do not take this tonic at the same time as tetracycline or ciprofloxacin antibiotics, as iron reduces how well they work — space them at least 2 hours apart. Antacids (like aluminium or magnesium-containing drugs) can also reduce iron absorption. Avoid taking with tea or coffee as they reduce how much iron your body absorbs.
