Who is this for?

Estradiol valerate is a form of the female hormone estrogen, made in the lab to work like the natural hormone your body produces. It replaces estrogen when your body is not making enough, helping to relieve symptoms caused by low estrogen levels.

Is Estradiol safe to take with another drug?

The usual dose is one 1 mg or 2 mg tablet taken once a day, swallowed whole with water. Your doctor will decide whether you take it every day or in a cycle (for example, 21 days on, 7 days off). It can be taken with or without food, but try to take it at the same time every day.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember — but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one. Do not take two tablets at once to make up for it.

• slight weight gain

Some anti-seizure drugs like carbamazepine and phenytoin can reduce how well estradiol works. Herbal remedies like St. John's Wort can also reduce its effectiveness. Alcohol can increase the risk of side effects like dizziness and may worsen liver problems.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat — Nigerian weather can be very hot, so avoid leaving it in cars or near windows. Keep it in its original pack and far from children's reach.
