Braftovi 50 mg Capsules

Who is this for?

Encorafenib (sold as Braftovi) is a cancer medicine that works by blocking a faulty protein called BRAF in cancer cells, which helps slow down or stop the growth of certain types of cancer.

Inhibits BRAF V600E kinase, a mutated protein that drives uncontrolled cell division in melanoma and colorectal cancers, thereby suppressing the MAPK signaling pathway and inducing apoptosis in BRAF-mutant malignant cells.

Is Encorafenib safe to take with another drug?

The usual adult dose is 450 mg once daily (for example, six 75 mg capsules) when used with another cancer drug called binimetinib, or 300 mg once daily when used with cetuximab for colon cancer. Swallow the capsules whole with water — do not open, crush, or chew them. You can take it with or without food. Take it at the same time every day as your doctor directs.

If you miss a dose by more than 12 hours, skip it and take your next dose at the regular time. Do not take two doses at once to make up for the missed one.

Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice as they can increase the drug level in your blood and cause more side effects. Some antibiotics and antifungal medicines (like ketoconazole or rifampicin) can strongly affect how this drug works — always tell your doctor about every medicine you are taking. Avoid alcohol as it can worsen side effects like nausea and tiredness.

Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C — away from direct sunlight and humidity, which can be a challenge in Nigeria. Keep the capsules in their original container and always keep them far out of the reach of children.
