Who is this for?
This is a combination medicine that works in four ways: it calms cough (dextromethorphan), opens up blocked nose (phenylephrine), loosens thick phlegm so you can cough it out easily (guaifenesin), and reduces fever and body pain (acetaminophen/paracetamol).
Suppresses cough by binding to sigma-1 receptors in the medullary cough center; activates alpha-1 adrenergic receptors to cause vasoconstriction and reduce nasal congestion; increases respiratory tract fluid secretions to facilitate mucus clearance; and inhibits COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes to reduce prostaglandin-mediated pain and fever.

Since this medicine is taken only when you have symptoms (as needed), there is no strict schedule. If you forget a dose, simply take it when you remember, but do not double up or take two doses close together. Always wait at least 4 hours between doses.
Do not combine this with other paracetamol-containing products, as many Nigerian cold medicines already contain paracetamol, so check all your medicines to avoid overdose. Buy only from licensed pharmacies, not roadside sellers or open markets, to make sure you are getting genuine products. If your symptoms do not improve after 5 to 7 days or you develop a high fever, see a doctor, as it could be malaria or typhoid, not just ordinary cold.
Do not take this with other medicines that contain paracetamol (like Panadol or other cold remedies) as this can cause liver damage from overdose. Avoid drinking alcohol while using this medicine because it increases the risk of liver problems. Do not use with MAO inhibitor drugs or other cough suppressants without asking your doctor or pharmacist.
