Norbamed Cream 30 g

Who is this for?

This is a combination cream that contains three active ingredients: clobetasol (a very strong steroid that reduces swelling, redness, and itching), miconazole (an antifungal that kills fungus), and neomycin (an antibiotic that kills bacteria). It works by tackling skin infections caused by fungus and bacteria while calming inflammation at the same time.

Inhibits fungal ergosterol synthesis via lanosterol 14α-demethylase, suppresses bacterial protein synthesis via 30S ribosomal subunit inhibition, and activates glucocorticoid receptors to reduce inflammatory cytokine production and immune cell infiltration.

Is Clobetasol; safe to take with another drug?

Apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected skin area 2 to 3 times daily. Gently rub it in until absorbed. Do not use it for more than 2 weeks unless your doctor tells you otherwise. Wash your hands before and after applying. Available in Nigeria as Norbamed Cream 30g.

If you forget to apply the cream, use it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next application, skip the missed one and continue as normal. Do not apply double the amount to make up for the missed dose.

• Burning or stinging feeling when you first apply it
• thinning of the skin if used for too long
• stretch marks or changes in skin colour at the application area
• mild itching or dryness around the treated spot

Avoid using other steroid creams or medicated skin products on the same area at the same time — this can increase side effects. If you are taking blood-thinning medicines like warfarin, let your doctor know as neomycin may affect how they work. Do not mix with other antifungal or antibiotic creams unless your doctor says so.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat — Nigerian weather can be very hot, so avoid leaving it in your car or near windows. Keep the tube tightly closed after use. Store out of the reach of children.
